Definition
Community Resilience
The strength of local, real-world relationships and mutual-aid networks that provide support independent of any single institution or platform.
Community resilience is the depth of relationships and practical support — neighbours, local groups, family, mutual-aid networks — you can rely on that do not depend on a platform, employer, or government service functioning correctly. It is built deliberately over time, not assembled during a crisis.
Why it matters: sovereignty over digital tools and finances is undermined if all real-world support is equally concentrated in fragile, single-point-of-failure systems. Community resilience is the offline counterpart to digital and financial independence.
