Digital Footprint
The total trail of data you leave online — deliberately posted or passively collected — that others can find and use.
Your digital footprint is everything discoverable about you online: the active footprint you create (posts, profiles, comments) and the passive one collected about you (tracking, records, data-broker profiles). Employers, scammers, and platforms all read it.
Why it matters: your footprint is your de-facto public reputation and a map for anyone targeting you. Auditing it periodically — and shrinking what you do not need public — is basic digital hygiene.
