Risk signal Model

A clear picture of what you are protecting, from whom, and what happens if you fail β€” used to choose proportionate defenses.

A risk signal model answers four questions: what do I want to protect, who might want it, how likely and capable are they, and what is the cost of getting it wrong? Your answers decide which tools are worth the effort.

Why it matters: there is no universal “most secure” setup. The right defenses for a journalist differ from those for an average household. A risk signal model stops you from over-spending effort in one place while leaving an obvious gap elsewhere.
